The Employee Development Database is a computerized registration information system running on Microsoft Access™. The system is set up to track and record course and student data.

Relational Database

This system maintains and tracks student and course information. For example:

• class dates and times
• grades
• student demographic information.

Student File System

This is an alphabetical system that records and stores all non-database student information. For example:

• certificates
• training needs assessment
• educational records
• learner assessments
• evaluation information.

State and Federal Regulations

Employee Development University complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and the California Code of Regulations, Section 67100 et. seq. EDU student records are regarded as confidential for all schools receiving assent under programs administered by the U.S. Department of Education, in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA).

Policy

The policy strictly enforces that the Dean of the Employee Development University will maintain career development and educational records in a confidential manner. The policy also outlines specific procedures for release and retention of records and records disputes. The policy meets the IACET criteria on maintenance and availability of records.
